The Ahafo Ano North District is located between latitude 6˚ 47’N and 7 02’N and longitude 2˚ 26’W and 2˚ 04’W. The District is located in the north-western part of Ashanti Region. It is bounded to the south by Atwima District, to the east by Ahafo Ano South District, and to the north and west by Tano South District and Asutifi District respectively, both of which fall within the Brong Ahafo Region. The district lies within the wet equatorial zone.

Many traders from these areas converge at Tepa weekly market to sell their goods due to its geographical position and in turn buy local staples like plantain, cassava, maize, vegetables etc. in large quantities.

There are 53 towns under the jurisdiction of the district and the assembly. The district has extensive fertile land coupled with a favourable climate, which is not only ideal for small scale farming but also for plantation agriculture.  The major food crops cultivated in the district are plantain, maize, cocoyam, rice, cowpeas and vegetables.
